We have some amazing groups here at GayTucson. PFLAG Tucson promotes the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons. They help through support, education, and advocacy.
PFLAG supports parents, families, straight/gay spouses and all LGBTQ. This support comes in the form of a confidential setting of monthly meetings. They provide each person, at any stage of their journey, the chance to share experiences and issues in a safe, supportive, friendly environment.
PFLAG Tucson provides education both individually and in their community. They promote respect and understanding of LGBTQ relationships as being healthy, normal just like any other relationship.
PFLAG Tucson education activities include annual fundraising and scholarships to LGBTQ youth and adults whose college educations can further LGBT equality. Also, speaker panels address college classes and organization meetings.
PFLAG has fought against constitutional amendments to ban gay marriages in Arizona. They have also advocated for domestic partner benefits for state employees. Lastly, PFLAG speaks out against unequal treatment of LGBTQ people and hate crimes against them.
All in all, PFLAG provides the opportunity to dialogue about sexual orientation and gender identity. They take action to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity.
