Stop Kiss in Tucson: Queer Love, Courage and a Night at the Theatre

A friendship that becomes something more, the courage to be seen, and a community gathering around live theatre: Stop Kiss offers Tucson audiences plenty to think about this fall. The University of Arizona School of Theatre, Film & Television brings Diana Son’s drama to Tornabene Theatre from November 20 through December 6, 2026, with previews on November 15 and 19.

A Queer Love Story on the Tucson Stage

Set in New York City, Stop Kiss follows Callie and Sara as their friendship develops into an unexpected romance. After their first kiss leads to a violent attack, the play moves between their growing connection and the aftermath of the assault.

Directed by Erin Roberts, the university production explores love, identity, vulnerability and resilience. For LGBTQ+ Tucson readers and allies, it is an opportunity to experience a story that makes room for both the tenderness of discovering a relationship and the courage it takes to move forward.

Content note: The story includes anti-LGBTQ+ violence and its aftermath.

Choose a Performance, Stay for the Conversation

The run offers afternoon and evening options at Tornabene Theatre, 1025 N. Olive Road, Tucson. Previews take place Sunday, November 15, at 1:30 p.m. and Thursday, November 19, at 7:30 p.m.
