You might be familiar with Andy Warhol as a prominent figure in the pop art scene. He is famously known for simple illustrations of a Campbell’s Soup Can as well as repeating portraits shown in contrasting colors like the one of Marilyn Monroe. Most people don’t realize that he was also a film aficionado and director in his own right.
Andy Warhol’s, 8-hour, silent film, Empire, rarely shows ever. It will be playing in its entirety on April 29th, 2017.
The Exploded View is creating a living installation of film, music, and multiple multi-channeled mayhems. To do this, they will create a giant mirrored chamber and project Andy Warhol’s 1964 silent 8-hour film masterpiece. Then, the back of Toole Shed Studios (the warehouse where Exploded View is based) will turn into a lounge FACTORY with couches, carpets, and trippy visuals.
