Colors gay bar and restaurant in Tucson AZ has closed its doors. Color’s was the only GLBT bar with a restaurant in Tucson and the only GLBT establishment located so close to the East side.
Most of the gay bars are located in central Tucson, closer to the West side. Location may have been one of Colors down falls, as it is very easy for bar hopping patrons to visit Woody’s, New Moon, Brodies, Venture-n and IBT’s due to their close proximity to each other.
Colors quite obviously stood alone, with its own clientele. Yes, fun shows like “Musical Mayhem” and “Retro Game Show” did draw some folks to Colors, but in order to survive, bars need daily revenue. Location probably played a role in the patron shortage.
Whatever the reason, frankly, this sucks. We will miss Colors and we wish the best to its owners and staff. This is the second goodbye we must bid in the past year. As you know, The Biz (Aint Nobodys Bizness) closed its doors in December of 2011.
So now, at least let us give you some good news. “Musical Mayhem” will now be seen at the New Moon. The first show is Friday, August 8, 2012. Go, support them, and have a blast.
