Who is Michelle Citron?
An award wining filmmaker and author, Michelle Citron has been featured by over 200 universities and museums. She is best known for award-winning book “Home Movies and Other Necessary Fictions”.
What is Lives: Visible About?
The 1930’s Chicago is the backdrop for an illuminating exploration into the lives of working class butch / fem lesbians. Told through private snapshots that have recently been unearthed, these candid scenes paint a tale of pre-Stonewall lesbian life in America. With a narrative over 4 decades in the making, this amazing film exposes the ephemeral and constantly changing nature of popular culture.
What is Leftovers About?
Leftovers is a forbidden love story told through over 2000 snapshots. Norma and Virginia, the subjects of the film, were lovers for over 50 years before dying in isolation. Thankfully, their story has been lovingly recreated by Ms. Citron and you get a sneak peak into the lives of common Americans whom were outside the mainstream of society.
