It’s that time of year! When the city is still a little too hot, the fun guys at Men’s Social Network (MSN) want to share with you the majesty of the desert. Spend your Saturdays this winter exploring the vast network of interconnected trails the Tortolita Mountains has to offer!
For the Love of Nature
MSN usually begins at the scenic Wild Burro trailhead, a mere stone-throw from the elegant Ritz Carleton. Each adventure takes around 4 hours, with enthusiastic and experienced guides leading you along the trails. Every trail features enough spectacular, camera-worthy vistas to make all of your social media friends jealous.
And don’t forget about the critters. The Sonoran Desert supports an abundance of life, spectacular in it’s complexity, that must be experienced to be understood. The delicate balance between the aggressive flora and timid fauna is laid to bare as you explore their interactions and receive a window into their lives.
Special Thanks to Marana
This incredible opportunity comes thanks to the excellent Town of Marana Parks and Recreate Department and their monthly series of guided hikes. These events offer everyone a fun and adventurous way to learn about the area, burn more than a few calories, and meet great new people.
You have to come to next month’s event! MSN will be tackling the Tortolita Preserve Trail, with 9 1/2 miles of beautiful Ironwood trail, reaching an elevation of 450 ft. On December 2nd, meet us at 8am at the Tortolita Preserve Trailhead. To get there, take Tangerine to Dove Mountain and turn to the North. When you reach Moore Rd., turn West and go through the gate. You’ll find the trailhead in front of you, on the right.
This is an awesome opportunity to do something fun and active, while also learning and spending time with new people. Please refer any questions to Dale Shaw at 503.957.9993 or shawdr@hotmail.com .
