I’m dedicating this blog to a wonderful hidden jewel that I recently discovered in my recent travels. I’m sure I can safely assume that many of you are also food lovers. When some dear friends of mine recently relocated to Boise, ID for work purposes (Hi, Tom and Becky!) I made sure to make plans to visit them. When I eventually made my way down there, several months later, I was welcomed into Boise with open arms.
I was given a small tour of the downtown area, and instantly, fell in love with the charm of Boise. When my friend Tom and I continued a more detailed tour of downtown on foot, I discovered the sinfully delicious lil candy store called “The Chocolate Bar.” In all honesty, we discovered the place on accident.
We are drawn to the shop next to it because of a big red sign that read “Liquidation Close-Out Sale.” I’m never one to pass up a good sale. After buying some cookbooks from that unfortunate store, we headed out and decided to walk a different direction. It was then that we saw the sign and displayed chocolates in their window.
We entered the store and our senses were dancing from all the aromas and visual decadencearound us. The staff were amazingly down to earth and personable. A trait I noticed, and was happy to see, in Boise.
Then my eyes caught something at the end corner of their last display shelves. I saw beautiful dark chocolate mounds that made my mouth instantly water. My eyes followed the words on the card in from of them. It read “Dark Chocolate covered Ginger Strips.” I will my first initial reaction to hearing that combination of flavors wasn’t a good one.
I like ginger and I love dark chocolate! But the two of them seems weird in my head. So being the curious virgo that I am who is down to trying anything, at least once, I asked for a sample. Needless to say, it was like instant rapturous sex in my mouth. The texture was great, and the added benefit of the flavors of dark chocolate with the slight hint of spice from the ginger was beyond was words could ever describe.
Is our mouth watering yet?!? Mine totally is just from recalling every taste and sensation from a simple sample of chocolate. Man, I love it when the power of good food can make us feel things and other experiences just cant.
But for those who must or want to experience the same thing, follow this link to the companies’ website. (www.thechocolatbar.comno e at the end of chocolat) I will say, I checked it before posting this blog and the website does work…but is currently doing some maintenance to the website. However, some information is still there and so is their contact info. Call/email them. They offer great prices on their shipping. (oh yes, forgot to mention..they ship out of state, HOW COOL IS THAT!!!)
Fear not for your precious chocolates on order. We all know the Arizona sun can be a killer with some special deliveries. The company does take special precautions with their merchandise to make sure you get the quality product that you just paid for. For more info on that….look up the website and email/ call them with any question or concerns.
Trust me guys, your gonna love these guys.
But because I am a big believer of supporting our local businesses, I would love to hear of any recommendations you readers may have for me on great chocolates made here in Tucson. Thanks!
I now must focus my attentions back to my final projects. My school terms ends as of this Thursday. Thank you, baby Jesus!!
Good luck to any and all fellow students on their finals.
