Two Women, Joanne Schailey, a registered Nurse and Beth Asaro, a city councilwoman, were the first to be married under the new Law passed by New Jersey.
This makes New Jersey the 14th state to pass same-sex marriage legislation.
The couple have been together for 27 years. They were married in a small civil ceremony.
A total of 6 same-sex couples were married in New Jersey on it’s first day following the new legislation.
Meanwhile across the world, The capital territory of Australia became the first jurisdiction in that country to allow same-sex marriage by a narrow vote. G’day!
