Last month was a busy month for Gay Tucson- from Pride in the Desert, to AIDS Walk, to the various Halloween celebrations the gays of the old town had a lot on their plates.
Pride in the Desert had a great turn out, starting with the Pride on Parade lead by Margaret Cho and Desert Voices. The parade, although short, was a very memorable one. Floats, cars, and people marching all were very well received by the crowd on 4th Avenue. The parade ended with a block party on 7th street in front of Wingspan.
Pride on the Desert, at Reid park was one of the best we’ve seen in years. A great line up of entertainers, various dance floors, and tons of friendly people made this year’s pride one to remember. Pictures and more about pride will soon be posted in the Out & About page.
This years AIDS Walk had one of the best turn out as well. More people than ever showed up to walk, and enjoy a beautiful morning among friends and family. This was a great celebration and remembrance for those who had passed and those who are currently living with HIV/AIDS.
Halloween Celebrations were way over the top this year. Woody’s, IBT’s and The Biz all held Costume contests with great prizes, and all were packed. 4th avenue transformed into a freak show Saturday night as Tucsonans let their inspiration come out through their costumes.
All in all , October once again proves to be one of the busiest months for Gay Tucson, with all kinds of celebrations and, what the Gays love the most… lots of fun!
