Tucson Police Department Safe Place Program
The Tucson Police Department (TPD) starts a new program called Safe Place, where members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community can go if they’ve been the victim of a hate crime or fear they might become one.
Tucson Police Department Safe Place program is looking for businesses to sign up and agree to be a “safe place” by letting people stay inside their business until police arrive. TPD is working with the group, Tucson Pride on the program. Participating businesses will receive a rainbow police badge decal to place on their windows and special training. Look for the stickers to know which businesses support the community and are a safe place.
The initial effort will focus on enrolling businesses in Downtown Tucson, which has a high concentration of people, shops, and restaurants.
Stay safe out there!
