Dear Mom, It’s awesome the love and support you have for your son! I’m a gay male and struggle with learning to accept that there are some family members that are unaccepting of being gay. I know everyone’s entitled to their opinion and belief about being gay but how have you dealt with others not accepeting your son?

First of all ….A BIG MENTAL HUG TO YOU…..Family members still love you, they do not know how to maturely process the information you gave them. Love them anyway and respect them when you are in their company.
Hopefully with time they will become more enriched as an individual and you will have helped them in that journey!!!
When I took the Marriage Equality form to get signatures and I was declined by several of my closest friends of their signatures, with the comment, but we love your son……..I was very sad that they do not see the big picture of equality for human rights and with time I hope they do. Love and patience!!!
