Fruit Fly…
Every gay should have one.
At GayTucson.com, we do and we’re excited to share.
Flutter, Flutter… Welcome to my life… The life of a Fruit Fly. I was asked recently by my best friend to start writing for Gaytucson.com. We were sitting in his kitchen, enjoying a cocktail (or five). Who counts after the first one, really?
We were catching up because I had not seen him for a couple of months. He was proudly telling me how he started this website and it is really taking off. Jokingly I said to him that I should have an honorable mention somewhere on the site as an alternative lifestyle companion. (that is my newest label for myself…don’t you just love it?)
One thing led to another and a brilliant idea was fueled by more alcohol. That brings us to the first blog on my Fruit Fly Forum. Well, now that you know how this whole blog got started, I feel that I should give you the definitions of a Fruit Fly (that is me) :
1. An attractive female who hangs around gay males. The same as a fag hag but attractive.
2. A woman who is friends with a gay or bisexual man but who does not have an interest in seducing them like many fag hags do. (Could be for a variety of reasons, but the main reason being they just enjoy being friends with a man who isn’t trying to get in their pants).
3. Parallels “Fag hag” yet meant for a younger and more attractive female instead of an old woman implied from “hag”.
4. A female that has a relationship with many gay men. A fruit fly has the capability of having relationships with heterosexual men, and doesn’t have to have a gay man by her side 24-7.
If you are reading this, you are probably thinking of someone right now that fits this definition. You all have one! Just like I believe whole heartedly that every straight girl should have a gay man as a best friend. Every gay man needs a fruit fly.
The reason is this, gay men and straight women seem to communicate almost effortlessly. Perhaps it’s because this is not a relationship based on convenience or forced by the pressures of society but one that is carefully chosen on the basis of common interests, mutual respect, and real affection. Or perhaps it’s because, freed from the stereotypical male-female roles, gay men and straight women relate to one another simply as people. My blogs will celebrate this friendship…
Cheers, Fruit Fly
