When and Where is the ONE Community LGBTQ Business Summit?

Firstly, you can attend the ONE Community LGBTQ Business Summit on Tuesday June 11th, 2019. Secondly, the summit kicks off at 9 am sharp. It will continue through the day until 3:30 pm. Thirdly, The event is held at the Arizona State University Memorial Union. Most importantly, be sure to come early as parking spots full up fast!

What Can I Expect at the ONE Community LGBTQ Business Summit?

You can expect to learn a ton about Arizona’s bustling LGBTQ community and subsequently, how they are an amazing target for your marketing dollars. Also, It turns out that corporate social responsibility (caring for the community) and diversity (inclusion) are critical components to building a viable business with LGBTQ customers.

I find it crazy that we are just now discovering that good business practices and treating people well are good for the bottom line. Makes me wonder who business people were serving before this revelation?

Above all, this particular business summit is excellent for business leaders, managers, and small business marketers alike!

The day will begin at 9 am sharp. There will be presentations covering aspects of the LGBTQ community in Arizona as well as the profound benefit your business will receive from actively marketing and selling the growing demographic. After that, you’re free to move between breakout sessions. Here is a breakdown of the breakouts:

Breakout Session 1

Option #1 – Inclusion and Belonging: Presented by Katee Van Horn, Founder and CEO of Bar the Door and Tyler Conaway, Global Pride board member, PayPal

Option #2 – Religious Freedom and Public Accommodations: Presented by Zachary Kramer, Associate Dean of Faculty, Professor of Law, and the William H. Pedrick Distinguished Research Scholar at Arizona State University

Breakout Session 2

Option #1: HR Policies & Procedures: Presented by Nonnie Shivers, partner Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. Nonnie regularly speaks and trains on current and emerging employment law topics, including recent presentations to industry and trade groups on LGBTQ workplace issues.

Option #2: Schools & Youth Advocacy: Panel Discussion moderated by Madelaine Adelman, founder GLSEN Phoenix

Panelists include:

  • Nate Rhoton, Executive Director of one-n-ten
  • Vinny Chulani head of Phoenix Children’s Hospital’s LGBTQ inclusive Adolescent Medicine Program
  • Kathy Hoffman, Superintendent of Public Instruction

Afternoon Panel: The Business of Inclusion Panel Discussion / Q&A with Local Leaders
