The 38th annual Pride in the Desert, (wow, where do the years go?), keeps getting bigger and bigger. This years event is slated to be the best one yet! Taking place in the spacious Kino Sports Complex (map) from noon to 8pm, come be entertained by our three fabulously unique emcees, Tempest DuJour, Lady Ashley, and Lucinda Holliday. Dance to original mixes from by DJ Mic Mixxers and enjoy special performances from Paul Edgewater, Real Gone, and many more entertainers!

We will be headlined by our Grand Marshall Amanda Simpson, a Deputy Assistant Secretary at the US Department of Defense. Her story is an excellent reminder of how far we’ve come as a society, and how far we have left to go. As the first openly transgender woman to be appointed to the Presidential Cabinet, Amanda has be breaking through barriers her entire adult life. She is the highest ranking transgender person to ever serve any President in history!

Next Saturday will be full of inspirational stories and once-in-a-lifetime performances! We will even get to share in the joy of a mass wedding ceremony, hosted by international recording artist Jacinta. This will be a truly life-changing event and I, for one, can barely contain my excitement.

I can’t wait to share this experience with all of you, my dear friends and business associates. This will be a day of celebration and reflection. Of remembrance for those who have carried us this far, and a promise to future generation to keep up the struggle until the day we are all equal in the eyes of society at-large. One day, at the top of a hill on a rapidly-approaching horizon, I will see you there!
