Tucson is lucky to have so many amazing organizations planning fun activities for our commendable community. One such non-profit is Southern Arizona Senior Pride, stewards or art and literature in Pima County and the rest of Southern Arizona. Amongst their many fantastic programs is a scintillating speaker series featuring various luminaries from local groups and institutions. They are just about to open up for the Senior Pride Speaker Series – Spring 2020 and I am here to tell you all about it!
When and Where is the Senior Pride Speaker Series – Spring 2020?
You can attend the next amazing speaking event on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. The series takes place in the Himmel Park Library at 1035 N Treat Avenue, just off Speedway. The speakers usually hold the floor for an hour or so and then you are free to ask any questions and connect with the prominent speaker. It is a great opportunity to learn more about important topics and meet wonderful new people making a difference in our community.
What Can I Expect at the Senior Pride Speaker Series – Spring 2020?
There is a star-studded lineup of amazing speakers that are coming to the Series this Spring 2020. Here is the complete list:
- Mar. 10 – Kaitlyn Sparks and Jessica Pryde of the Pima Public Library LGBTQ+ Services Committee will be talking about LGBTQ+ authors at the Tucson Festival of Books
- Apr. 14 – Andrew Broan, a self-identified “homo guide” discusses tips for older LGBTQ+ travelers
- May 12 – Sarah Bahnson, the LGBTQ Liasion for Pima Council on Aging and Jeri Morrison speak about the PCOA’s dedicated programs for our LGBTQ community.
- June 9 – Alan Trachtenberg joins us from TPD to tell us about senior safety; avoiding scams and keeping your home secure.
