Tucson Gallery, our beloved local art gallery in downtown Tucson, is shining a spotlight on Victor Navarro, an acclaimed LGBTQ+ artist whose journey began here at home. Victor stepped into the art world at just 15 and never looked back, exhibiting locally before quickly taking his work abroad. His artwork has appeared at the Carrousel du LOUVRE in Paris, the International Academy of Lutece in France, Sun Yat-sen National Memorial Hall in Taipei, and World Art Dubai, with pieces entering notable collections, including the United States Ambassador’s residence in Abu Dhabi.

Artist, Educator, Community Builder

Victor pairs his creative practice with a strong academic foundation: a B.F.A. from The University of Arizona, an M.Ed. from Northern Arizona University, and an MBA from Dubuque University. He has shared his love of art through teaching with Pima Community College, Parks & Rec, and Splendido. In 2020, he was recognized in the Governor’s Arts Awards as both Philanthropist of the Year and Artist of the Year. Across his work, Victor explores themes of diversity, identity, culture, and emotion, inviting viewers to look closer and feel deeply.

(A few personal touches fans love: Victor grew up in Tucson, was born in Guadalajara, and comes from a close-knit family where art and music are core traditions. His 13-year-old chihuahua, Tina, often “assists” during Sunday senior art sessions 😉

Acrylic, Ink, Oil: Mediums with Movement

Victor’s favorite mediums, acrylic, ink, and oil, allow him to translate motion and feeling onto the canvas. That same energy infuses his teaching life: when he’s not creating, he serves as a Financial Aid Advisor at Pima Community College, teaches French Through Art as an adjunct professor, and leads senior art classes. Even off the easel, his days are devoted to art and community.
