Hello the Hate Crime Unit is offering training on Saturday April 18, 2020 between 8am and 2pm. The training is provided by Matthew Shepard Foundation and will cover the following:
This training will stress the reasons for vigorous hate crimes enforcement; the importance of developing strong ties between law enforcement and communities; the appropriate investigative measures that should be taken when a hate crime is reported; the state and federal law pertaining to hate crimes; the importance of investigators and prosecutors consulting and working together during the early stages of the investigation, and the negative consequences for a prosecution absent such cooperation; and the key investigative steps necessary to obtain critical motive evidence.
