20 Years of GayTucson.com: It Started With One Phone Call

GayTucson.com was created by Tucson resident Tony Ray Baker in 2006 after a conversation with a gay couple who was frightened about relocating to Tucson based on negative information they were finding about LGBTQ+ life in Arizona. Baker taught himself HTML and originally planned a 10-page website highlighting LGBTQ-owned and LGBTQ-friendly Tucson businesses, organizations and people. Today, GayTucson.com is a broad LGBTQ+ community resource serving more than 60,000 users annually. Business and community event submissions are free, and Baker remains the site's creator, owner and sponsor, considering GayTucson.com his gift to the Tucson community.
